MEMORIES
  • I do remember quite a bit of fanfare and certainly remember Doc Pott well....he was tall and held me up higher than my father did (who was 5'10" but walked with a cane so perhaps it was difficult for him to hold me up high), so I got a fine view.  I did not walk much at this time so enjoyed having him carry me around.  I remember the third of a circle window with spokes in it over the door of the President's house--he held me up so I could look at it closely.
  • I remember the dog the Potts had.  His name was "Sandy Pott."  I guess I thought he was nice, but he looked very big to me.
  • I remember a very hot summer in Chicago; we slept in front of a fan.
