collapsing during the taping of a television show. He was 77.

BO SCHEMBECHLER, ALAN PAGE and 11 others are the
newest members of the College Football Hall of Fame, in Kings Island,
Ohio. The elections, held by the National Football Foundation, were
announced yesterday. Schembechler compiled a 234-65-8 record in 27
years of coaching at Miami of Ohio from 1963 to 1968 and at Michigan
from 1969 to 1989. Page played at Notre Dame from 1964-66, helping the
Irish to a record of 25-3-2 and the 1966 national championship.

TOM MONAGHAN to stay 10 years as president of the Detroit Tigers.
Monaghan says he did not. The matter may now be headed to court.
Lawyers representing Schembechler, who was fired in August shortly
before Monaghan sold the Tigers, said Schembechler would file a lawsuit
against Monaghan on Monday. (AP)

BO SCHEMBECHLER, the discharged Detroit Tigers
president, yesterday threatened to sue the organization if it fails to
live up to what he said was a promise that he would head the club until
2000. "He was to finish his working life with the Tigers, until age
70," said Schembechler's attorney, JOSEPH A. GOLDEN. "Bo was prepared
to honor the 10-year commitment; the Tigers, obviously, were not."
