COMMITTEES

GOODWILL IS THE SPIRIT OF DETROIT!

Please let one of the NABC Co-Chairs know if your status on a committee changes, if you find an error, or if you wish to be added;
we wish to include all who want to participate!

The NABC Co-Chairs keep a comprehensive database of volunteers in electronic format.

The categories listed below correspond exactly to the names used in the ACBL Manual of Operations for NABCs in order to facilitate communications between local volunteers and national staff from Memphis in coordinating the event--both in the planning stages as well as at the tournament itself.  Each committee chair will work with one of the three NABC  Co-Chairs as redundancy in coordinating efforts.  The list below shows both the individual committee name as well as the associated co-chair.

Structure of the event:  the ACBL is in charge.  They awarded an NABC to District 12.  The District 12  Board then appointed three local NABC Co-Chairs.  The detail below lays out the general structure.  Please feel free to look at it and consider how you might wish to volunteer...work on what and with whom.

Reporting directly to the three NABC Co-Chairs (NCCs) there is an "Executive Committee" composed of the three NABC Co-Chairs and the Finance and Publicity Chairs.  This committee has met on a regular basis and has decision-making authority.   There is also a "Steering Committee" composed of the "Executive Committee, " representatives from each of the units and related associations, and Chairs or Co-Chairs of each of the principal committees (as identified by budget allocation, or other, suggested by ACBL).

Earlier, a survey was given out at clubs in an effort to get a pool of volunteers.  Some of the results of that survey, as well as other information, are posted below in the committee assignments.  If you wish to volunteer, contact a Volunteer Committee Co-Chair or contact an NABC Co-Chair.  All Committee Chairs must have e-mail or be paired with a Co-Chair who has e-mail.
