Gerald
Zandstra, age 86,
passed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, November 29, 2009 after an
extended illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 58
years,
Geraldine (Roosien) Zandstra; sisters, Betty Heemstra, Lena Steringa,
and Ruth
Dykstra. Gerald was a cabinet maker and loved woodworking, and used his
God-given gifts for the kingdom. He enjoyed fishing, vacationing and
spending
time with his family. He faithfully served his church as an elder and
deacon.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth Zandstra; and his
children, Judy and Roger Faber of Ada, Barbara and Robert Zuidema of
Grandville, Jack and Beth Zandstra of Muskegon; seven grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Beukema, Alice and Robert Pranger,
Oretta
and John Dykstra, Aljean and Maurice DeJonge; brothers, Albert and
Wilma
Zandstra, Alfred and Marilyn Zandstra; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Pete
Dykstra, Laverne and Char Roosien, Jay and Jeanne Roosien, Ruthann and
Tom Van
Haften, Ruth Roosien, Dwight and Sheri Hull, Clifford Bremer; his
step-children, Ronald Steensma, Bert and Lynda Steensma, Robert and Sue
Steensma, Gary and Carol Steensma; 12 step-grandchildren; 21 step
great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
held
Thursday 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Vander Meiden officiating. Interment
Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may make memorial contributions
to Bibles
