Doris May Wilcox, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of November 18, 2009 surrounded by her family. A life-long resident of Grand Rapids, Doris currently resided at Clark Retirement Community. She was a hard-working, resourceful, independent person who had a deep love for her family and friends. She had a wonderful smile and sparkling eyes that lit up when she was with her children, grand-children and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Doris is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Don) Hardcastle, Colleyville, TX; son, David (Lyda) Wilcox, Coopersville, MI; daughter, Susan (Tony) Kellipio, Honolulu, HI; four grandchildren (Robert Thoreson, Keely Carpenter, Joanna Wilcox, Mike Wilcox); two great granddaughters (Sierra Thoreson, Finley Carpenter); and sister, Jean (Alvin) Bielema. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Clark Retirement Community Chapel (Franklin Campus). Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan or the Clark Retirement Community Foundation. The family would like to also thank the progressive care unit staff of Blodgett Hospital for their superior care during our mother's recent stay. |
