Donna Mae (Grit) Wawee, born June 9, 1928, danced into Glory on October 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Grit. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 58 years, Gus Wawee; her daughter, Pamela Wawee of Wyoming, son, Robert Wawee of Texas and daughter, Nancy (James) Knipple of Grandville, and two grandsons. Also, by her special friends, Evelyn Egolf, Ethelyn Huff and Patricia De Lany. She will be also missed by her granddog and grandcats. Donna touched many lives in her time on this earth and will be greatly missed by those who came in contact with her. She was the kind of person that if you met her once you would never forget her. She was kind, compassionate and loving. She loved you even if you didn't love her back. She had a great love for The Lord, and because of Him, a great love of music she shared with everyone. If you did not know the Lord before you met her, you sure did when you left her. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23. She was the organist for Peninsular Chapter for 36 years.  The funeral to celebrate Donna's life will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 22 at the Cook Memorial Chapel (east building) with the Reverend James Bugg officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to help defray medical and funeral costs to the Donna Wawee fund at Fifth Third Bank. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gordon VanOtteren for all his care.
