Henry
Velzen, 89, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 6,
2009.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane (Ryskamp) Velzen;
his
children, Pat and Gary Nederveld of Grand Rapids, Mary Jane and Jim
Voogt of
Colorado, Ginny and John Bylsma of California, and Jack and Sally
Velzen of
Minnesota; his grandchildren, Allen and Emily Nederveld, Anne Nederveld
and Bob
Frazho, Steve and Cindy Nederveld, Eric Voogt and Alison George, Rachel
Voogt-Clayborn and Trevor Clayborn, Jason and Tara Voogt, Dustin and
Cindy
Bylsma, Joel Bylsma and Jeanette Feddes, Andre Bylsma, Ben Velzen, and
Chris
Velzen; 17 great-grandchildren; his sister, Lillian Grissen; his
brother, Frank
and Sylvia Velzen; his sister-in-law, Bernice Velzen; and many friends
and
fellow believers. He had a zest for life, a deep love for his family
(especially the littlest ones), and a desire to do what the Lord wanted
him to
do. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Calvin
College
Chapel, Rev. Mike Abma and Rev. Peter Jonker of Woodlawn Christian
Reformed
Church officiating. Private interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In
lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the CRWRC or to
Wycliffe Bible
Translators to support the work of Terry and Judy Schram. |
