a

Alice Veldkamp, age 90, of Grandville, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Alice was a woman of grace who put her family first. Along with her hobbies of baking and cooking, (especially her famous applesauce), her grandchildren were her priority. As well as being fun loving, she inherited her gift of feistiness from her mother and used it to stand firm in her convictions of faith and character. Her life was lived and defined by the Fruits of the Spirit. She had the gift of helping others, where she volunteered at church serving others in many ways. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred Veldkamp; siblings, Grace, Marian, John and several dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Nancy and Russ Brubaker and their children, Kevin and Kendra Brubaker, Christopher Brubaker (Lindsey Haskins), Kyle Brubaker, Travis Brubaker; Susan and Mel Mejeur and their children, Jenni Mejeur (Mike Battle), Sara Mejeur, Eric Mejeur, Faith Mejeur and her fiancé, Brent Laubaugh; Marilyn and Bob DeJong and their children, Laura and Ben Normington, Tim DeJong, Steven DeJong, Hannah DeJong; her very first and precious great granddaughter, Allison Normington; sisters, Joann Workman, Marva Jacobson; sister-in-law, Ellen Huizenga; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 am at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating.  Interment Chapel Hill Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Community Christian Reformed Church.
