John Veenstra, age
82, of Jenison, was unexpectedly called home on Friday,
August 7, 2009, while surrounded by his family. He was preceded in
death by his
grandson, Kyle Ritsema; three brothers; and two sisters. John had a
kind and
gentle spirit with a special love and compassion for others. He proudly
served
his country in the US Marines during WWII. He will be lovingly
remembered by
his wife of 60 years, Elaine Veenstra; his children, Jim and Jeri
Veenstra of
TN, Kathy and Denny Alderink of Hamilton, Ken and Deb Veenstra of
Jenison; nine
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Louie and
Barb
Veenstra; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey Veenstra, Evelyn
Veenstra,
Jay Lutke; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
held Monday
11:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress, Jenison with Rev.
Matthew
Palsrok officiating. Interment Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make
memorial
contributions to "The Gathering" Building of Cottonwood Church. |
