In memory of Evelyn VandeKopple 1921-2010 |
Mrs. Evelyn
VandeKopple, age 88, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Lord and
Saviour
on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. She was a member of Second Congregational
Church,
U.C.C. for 64 years. In 1939, she graduated from Creston High School.
Before
her marriage to Richard, she worked at McInerney Spring & Wire.
Later, she
worked as a receptionist in Dr. Howie and Dr. Orders' office, and
finally
Evelyn worked for the State of Michigan as a supervisor and interviewer
in the
employment service, retiring in 1983. She had an excellent work ethic
and
always wanted to be active. Her family was her life, and she was always
so
happy when her family was nearby. Up until recently, you would find
Evelyn
volunteering at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans; and while she
wintered in
Florida, she was a volunteer at the hospital. She was a member of the
American
Auxiliary Unit #258. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60
years,
Richard, on May 6, 2006, and her brother, Charles. Evelyn is survived
by her
children, Dave and Midge VandeKopple of Belmont, Connie and Dirk Miller
of
Jenison, Rick and Sharon VandeKopple of Belmont, Daniel and Lisa
VandeKopple of
Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother,
Floyd and
Lois DeShane; sister, Alice and D.O. Stuck; sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn
DeShane;
nieces and nephews. The service for Evelyn will be Saturday at 11 a.m.
at
Second Congregational Church, U.C.C. with Rev. Tracie Taylor-Kunst
officiating.
Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Those planning an expression
of
