   William Offringa

   1918-2009

William "Bill" Offringa, aged 91, of Jenison, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie (Mulder) Offringa; brother, Jim Offringa; and special friend, Gretta Pontus. Bill proudly served his country in the Pacific during WWII. He was a retiree of Kelvinator and also served as an Ottawa County Sheriff Reserve Officer for many years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Ruth and Jim Weaver, Bill and Carol Offringa, Joy and Curt Boss, Mark and Sheryl Offringa; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert and Margaret Offringa; sister, Helen Landstra; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wilma Mulder, Hazel Mulder, Bonnie and Marv Houtstra, Harold and Jean Marsman; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 a.m. at Twelfth Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 7551 - 12th Avenue, Jenison with Rev. James Evenhouse officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Georgetown Manor towards the purchase of new hymnals.
