Mr.
Calvin H. Nagel, 86, of Grand Rapids, went to meet
his Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2009. He is survived by his wife of
66
years, Elaine (Van De Riet); his children, Dr. Dennis (Margaret) Nagel
of Grand
Rapids, Pamela Nagel of Texas, and Deb Stephens of Grand Rapids; his
grandchildren, Tara, Rachelle, Noah, and Alex; his great grandson,
Caleb; his
brothers, Donovan Nagel of Wisconsin and Douglas (Lois) Nagel of Grand
Rapids;
his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Vera Walters of California, and Jessie Van
De Riet
of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cal attended
Calvin
College at age 16 before serving his country in the Office of Strategic
Services in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Union Bank and
Trust as Senior
Vice President after 38 years of employment. He volunteered and served
on
numerous boards and committees, including those of the American Red
Cross,
Christian High, Seymour Christian School, United Way, Hospice, Second
Sight,
N.U.C.S., Calvin College, and as a longtime charter member of Alger
Park
Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed his family, Florida, golf and
crossword
puzzles. Ultimately he was a tireless servant of his community, his
fellow man,
and his Lord. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. with
Rev. Ecko
DeVries and Rev. David Deters officiating. Interment Chapel Hill
Memorial
Gardens. Memorial contributions may be
given to Wedgwood Christian Services or a charity of one's choice.
