With
sadness and joy we share the news that Leona Leatherman, age 91, of
Ada, passed
away, Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at home under the loving care of her
family,
Porter Hills staff and Hospice of Michigan. She was preceded in death
by her
parents, Amelia and Perle Leggett; her husband, Richard Leatherman; her
brother, Bud Leggett; and sisters, Dora (Ronald) Wilcox and Esther
(Arlo)
Leatherman. She is survived by her daughters, Cheri McKay, Ricki (Greg)
Carlton
and son, Larry (Doris) Leatherman; grandchildren, Cherie' (Ray)
Rackley, Jon
Patrick McKay (our Brenda), Tonya Hatchett, Preston (Rachel) Hiltz,
Lisa
Leatherman; eleven great grandchildren; her sisters, Eileen (Don)
Proko,
Patricia (Glenn) Henderson, Ardris Hurley, Shirley (Bruce) Bartlette;
her
brother, David (Betty) Leggett; and several nieces and nephews. Leona
was a
devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a
friend to
many, she will forever be missed. The funeral service will be held
Saturday at
11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1905 Madison Ave. S.E. The
family will
receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Metcalf &
Jonkhoff
Funeral Service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to
Hospice of
Michigan or Redeemer Lutheran Church in memory of Leona. The family is
