   Roberta Kersjes

   1955-2009

Roberta Ann "Bobbi" Kersjes, aged 53, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2009. A most beautiful woman inside and out, she possessed a heart larger than life, not only for children, but for all animals too. While her life was cut too short, she will be forever remembered and sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched every moment of every day, always putting others before herself at every turn. Bobbi was a dedicated and loyal employee of Foremost Insurance for 35 years. She was active in Junior Achievement, and taught at Brookwood and Discovery Elementary Schools. She loved to sing, and had the voice of an angel that will be deeply missed. An avid traveler and caregiver, her greatest joy of all was the children. The time spent and the love given is irreplaceable. Bobbi was the best "Auntie" to her nieces and nephews, doting on them at every step, bringing family members together. She considered it a high honor to be the godmother to her nieces, Makenna, Aubrey, and Brooklynn. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell A. Lords, Jr. Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Ruth Anne and Gene V. Goodhue; her stepmother, Phyllis Lords; her siblings, Tara Goodhue, Gene (Nori) Goodhue, Kim (Ron) VanArtsen, Patty (Peter) Gamaggio, Shirl Dekker, Shari Goodhue; her nieces and nephews, Makenna F. Goodhue; Benjamin, Aubrey, and Brooklynn VanArtsen; Arianna Gamaggio; Michael (Amanda) Dekker and their children, Hayley, Mackenzie, and Anthony; her uncle, Orland (Judy) Lords; many extended family members and dear friends, including Kerry Davis, husband of Bobbi for 16 years. The Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Stroo Funeral Home. Entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Kent County Humane Society.
