Mr. Richard O. Jensen, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on New Year's Day, January 1, 2010. He grew up in Grand Rapids and attended Harrison Park School. Following the difficult times during The Depression, he left school and went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corp. For over 60 years Richard was a loyal member of Plumbers and Pipefitter's Local Unions 70 and 174. He was a very hard worker and provided well for them. Most of all, Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his children, Carolee and Garry Stephens of Belmont, Richard Jensen of Grand Rapids, Dirk Jensen of Greenville, and Jackie and Chester "Rocky" Atkinson of Belmont; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Fred (Betty) Jensen; brother-in-law, Lester Curtiss; and nieces and nephews. His wife, Alice, preceded him in death. The service for Mr. Jensen will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bella Vista Church with Pastor Mark Debowski officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of the U.S. Army with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
