Joan C. Humphries, age 77, of Brighton, formerly of Howell, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009. She was born January 9, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Marck and Frances (Walton) Davis. Beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Humphries (7/19/1998). Dear mother of Christian M. Stone of Brighton, James Humphries of Magnolia, TX and Phyllis (Frederick) Choate of Gregory, also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joan was a longtime employee at Howell Public Schools. She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing pillows and baby blankets and had created many friendships at Brighton Independence Village where she lived. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
