Robert
B. Hill, aged 85, of
Ada, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 19, 2009. He is survived
by Ruth
M. Hill; son, Robert B. Hill Jr.; daughters, Cherry (Phil) Pakiela,
Margery
Behr, Jennifer Hill, Ruth A. Hill; and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, James B. Hill,
John S.
Hill, and son-in-law, Steven Behr. Bob served in the Army Air Corps
during
World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He served the public in law
enforcement for
34 years as officer and Undersheriff for Kent County and Allegan
County. He was
an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, hunting, fishing, shooting and
relaxing at his
cabin. He was committed to his friend's, the late Floyd Chaffee, vision
for a
museum in Ada, and he assisted in its completion. He served as
President of the
Ada Historical Society overseeing the operations of the Averill Museum.
Funeral
Services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Bob
will miss
and will be missed by all of his many special friends and relatives,
and his
family deeply appreciates all of the special relationships he had in
his church
and the community. If you prefer, memorials can be made to the
Association for
the Blind or the Ada Historical Society.
