Bessie Hamming, 90 years old, went
to be with her beloved
Lord and husband on
September 10, 2009. She was born July 2, 1919 in McBain, Michigan. She
was
preceded in ascension by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Hamming, on
April 19,
2007; sister, Jenny Bolkema; brothers, John Schierbeek, Peter
Schierbeek. She
is survived by her three children, Emily Campisi, Kevin Hamming, Mark
(Marcie)
Hamming; her precious grandchildren, Kenneth Hamming, Grace Hamming,
Devon and
Rachel Campisi; as well as numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and
nephews,
cousins and friends who were all very dear to her heart. She was member
of
Seymour Christian Reformed Church for 40 years; Bessie's main focus in
her life
was her faith and her family. She was well known for her giving heart
and her
famous cookies, jams, peanut brittle and ice cream balls that were so
good we
got mad when she gave them away. She was a devoted wife and homemaker.
She
worked at Eastbrook Bowling lanes for many years running the nursery
which
filled her heart with joy to be around children. She also loved having
breakfast at Sandy's Restaurant. The family wishes to thank the nurses
at
Breton Manor for taking such good care our mom; we know you will miss
her smile
and zipping down the hallways. Funeral service will be held Tuesday,
September
15, 2009, at Seymour Christian Reformed Church of Grand Rapids, 840
Alger St.
Relatives and friends can meet at 10:00 a.m. for visitation, followed
by a
service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to
the Bessie Hamming Fund, c/o 3980 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids 49546
