Richard Gruessing, aged 91, of Cutlerville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 26, 2009. Richard was employed as a Pharmacist, serving the majority of his career at Pine Rest, where he also enjoyed volunteering as a retiree. He was a founding member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church, where he was active in serving as an elder and catechism teacher. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena; and his second wife, Jeanette (Kuipers); a great-grandson, Josiah Gruessing; and a step-daughter, Shirley (Kuipers) Hoving. Surviving are his children, John and Alice Gruessing of Zeeland, Mary and Jim Van Wingerden of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Kristi and Jim Lynch, Rob and Sue Gruessing, Mark and Lori Gruessing; Ryan, Christian, and Dena Van Wingerden; seven great grandchildren; his step-children, George Hoving of Orland Park, IL, Julia and John Sterk, Harry and Phyllis Kuipers, Janet and Bill Van Eerden, all of Cutlerville; 15 step-grandchildren; 32 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Etta Pabst; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard SE, with Rev. Calvin VanderMeyden officiating.  Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Pine Rest Foundation.
