Mr. Robert L. Eubanks, age 56, of Kentwood, MI, passed away
unexpectedly on Tuesday, 27 January 2009. He leaves to cherish his
memory a
loving wife of 11 years, Phyllis Eubanks; daughter, Shantae (Mark)
Evans; son,
Robert Eubanks Jr.; daughter, Angela Bowman; and six grandchildren.
Robert
Eubanks is also survived by his mother, Lilly; brothers, Carter Jr.
(Mary Jo)
(Louisville, KY), James, Dwight and sisters, Barbara, Diane, all from
Yazoo
City, MS, Doris (Eddie) (Cleveland, OH), Helen (Memphis, TN), Michelle
(Milwaukee, WI), Patricia (JC) (St. Louis, MO), and Sophronia (Brandon,
MS);
aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by
his father, Carter Sr. (Tallahassee, FL), and sister, Roberta (Yazoo
City, MS).
Robert Eubanks was born in Tallachie, MS, on September 10, 1952. He
moved to
Grand Rapids in 1968 where he became a graduate of Union High School
and Grand
Valley State University. Robert served in the U.S. Army and received an
honorable discharge. Robert joined the Kent County Sheriff's Department
and
retired after a 29 year career. During this time, he was a track coach
at Union
High School. At the time of his passing, Robert was a member of the
track
coaching staff at East Kentwood High School and a graduate student at
Western
Michigan University. Robert's family will receive visitors on Monday,
February
2nd, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m., and from 5 to 7 p.m. Celebration
of Life Services will be held at Messiah Missionary
Baptist Church, 513 Henry SE, Grand Rapids, on Tuesday, February 3rd.
Family
hour will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. The
Reverend
Dr. Clifton Rhodes, Jr. will officiate.
