Mr. William Doezema, aged 92, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 27, 2009. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Dykstra, brother, Charles (Gerry) Doezema, daughter-in-law, Linda Doezema. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeannette; children, Rosamond (George) Vredeveld, William (Judy Congdon) Doezema, Daniel (Mary) Doezema; son-in-law, Douglas Dykstra; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Lambert Doezema, Edward (Betty) Doezema, Angie VanderWal, Harriet (Edward) Knott, Annette (Herman) Hoeksema, Katherine Doezema, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II from 1941 to 1945. Along with his brother, Charles, he founded the Mastercraft Furniture Co. in 1946. His creative mind, coupled with ideas inspired by world travel, generated an exquisitely beautiful line of furniture. Bill was a longtime member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church who loved the shores of Lake Michigan, was an avid tennis player, and a personable volunteer driver at Raybrook Apartments, often sought after by name. He was well known for his generosity. We will remember him as a wonderful, loving, and loyal husband, brother, uncle, father, and grand-father. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Raybrook Manor with Rev. Edward Knott officiating. Interment is at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions maybe made to Calvin CRC Mission Fund or The Luke Society.
