Erna F. Demorest, aged 83, of Cascade, MI, departed this life on December 30, 2008.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton Demorest & son, David Demorest.  Erna is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Bob) VanHam; granddaughters, Veronica (John) Basarabski, Nanette DeGraff, Jennifer (Greg) Schondelmayer; five great-grandchildren, Michael (Natosha) Romero, Mathew Romero, Shannon Basarabski, Jessie DeGraff, Nicole Schondelmayer; and one great-great grandchild on the way; brother, Carl (Sandy) Braun; sister, Freida Schollaart; brother-in-law, Don (Gloria) Demorest; sister-in-law, Harriet Caverly; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral Services for Erna will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Caledonia, MI  with Rev. Dick Beach officiating.  Interment is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
