   F. Darlene DeJonge (Vickers)

   1928-2009

F. Darlene DeJonge (Vickers), age 80, went home to be with her Lord on January 11, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer.  Darlene was born on March 19, 1928 to Byron and Joy Weeks and grew up in Lowell, Michigan.  She married Russell William "Bill" Vickers in 1948 and moved with him to Grand Haven where they began to raise their family and were very active in the Church of the Nazarene.  In 1970, Bill and Darlene moved to Walker where she was residing at the time of her death.  After Bill's death in 1975, Darlene worked at Sandi's Donut House for 21 years.  In 1985, Darlene marred Jack Burnett, who died in 2002.  Darlene later married Don R. DeJonge, who survives her.  Darlene was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene her entire life and attended Indian Lake Nazarene Camp every summer for 77 years consecutively.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Cathy (Craig) Simons of North Muskegon; Dennis (Sue) Vickers of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Douglas (Rachel) Vickers of Haines City, Florida; Cheri (Joe) Szendre of Newaygo.  She is also survived by Don's children, Don W. DeJonge and Carla DeJonge-Slezak; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Simons, Jodi (Chad) Mulder, Rochelle (Jason) Alford, Eric Vickers, Aimee (Greg) Owen, Kim Vickers, Mike Vickers, Trina, Jennifer, David, and Kayla Szendre; and by twelve great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Roger Rollins; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Garner; her niece, Julie Fairchild; and by Gordon and Edna Burnett.  Funeral service to be held at Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene, 2545 Clyde Park, Wyoming, Michigan, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Cocheneour officiating.  Visitation will also be held at the Church one hour prior to the service.  Darlene will be interred beside her husband Bill at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be given to Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene.
