   1924-2009


Roy D. Cooper, aged 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Cooper. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Arlene Cooper; children, Edward (Debbie) Cooper, Sue (Dan) Falk, Kathy (Dave) Levandoski, Steven (Nora) Cooper; step-children, Pat (Mel) VanderBie, Cheryl (Dave) Niewenhuis, Deb (Don) Cook; 12 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three on the way; sisters, Ruby House, Dorothy (Don) Brearley, Arlene Tudor, Sarah (Amos) Brearley, Marlene (Tom) Purdy; brother, Roger (Pat) Cooper; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Roy worked at General Motors for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing with his family and the special hunting trips with his sons and grandson. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Mayfair Christian Reformed Church, 1736 Lyon St. NE with Rev. Jack DeJong officiating. Friends and relatives may greet Roy's family on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave. NE and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials can be made to Faith Hospice. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
