| Mrs. Joyce Elaine Collins, aged 79, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rip Collins, son-in-law, James Hoekstra, and brother, Robert Ploeg. She is survived by her children, Jacalyn Hoekstra, Robert III (Debra) Collins, Joan Collins; grandchildren, Will Collins, Casey Collins; brother, Thomas Ploeg; and many dear friends. Joyce was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments throughout life. Joyce was a graduate of Calvin College and Blodgett School of Nursing and was actively involved in the medical profession for over 50 years. She was an Administrator and the Vice President of Medical Personnel Pool for over 20 years. Joyce took pleasure and had pride in being the camp nurse at Camp Henry and Camp Blodgett for many years. She volunteered for the Red Cross, Area Agency on Aging and Hope Reformed Church and was a listening ear to many people. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Special thanks to Dr. Glen Van Otteran, his staff and the staff of Porter Hills for their compassion and care. The Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter TeWinkle officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Porter Hills Endowment Fund, 4450 Cascade Rd.
