a
Maurice "Moe" Alkire, aged 84, of
Croton, MI,
formerly of Lehigh Acres, FL, went to join his wife and Heavenly Father
on
Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Grand Rapids Home For Veterans, with his
family by
his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, and his brother,
Richard. Surviving are his daughter, Sandy and Dennis Stauffer; his
granddaughters, Amy and Aaron Barto, Jackie and Pat Remington; four
great
grandchildren, Jacob, Nicole, Alexandra, and Kyle; step grandchildren,
Jesica
and Nick Irwin, and Brian Stauffer; his dear friend and brother-in-law,
John
Charles, and brothers-in-law, Joe and Bud Charles; a few special
nieces,
nephews, and many dear friends. Moe served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
during
WWII, was a life charter member of the AMVET Post #23, the Walter
Howard
American Legion Croton Post #381, a member of AMBUCS, Sad Sacks,
40&8, the
Elks Club #2602 in Lehigh Acres, FL and Fremont, the Moose Lodge, VFW
Post in
Ft. Myers, FL, and Newaygo, he enjoyed nature and just being outdoors,
and
loved spending time with his family and many dear friends. In keeping
with his
wishes, cremation has taken place and a Wake in Remembrance of Moe and
his
wife, Pearl will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Walter
Howard American
Legion Croton Post #381 in Croton, MI, with Chaplain Tony Hoag
officiating.
Interment is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.
